Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
Good day @Todd Theissen, and I appreciate the clear explanation of your concern.
Just to gently clarify before we go any further, this is a user‑to‑user support forum. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user to user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, do not have access to internal systems or the ability to directly take action on Microsoft product features. However, I truly hope I can help review your situation, offer some guidance, and support you in finding the right next steps as best as possible.
Text Predictions in Outlook are part of a cloud based connected experience and may stop working due to several factors, depending on whether you are using a work or school account or a personal account. Since you haven’t specified your account type (work/school vs. personal), I may not be able to provide an exact solution yet. If you’re using a work account, please try the steps below. However, if you’re using a personal account, you can start from step 2 onward.
Make sure your operating system and Classic Outlook (File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now > Restart Outlook) are fully updated to the latest version.
Step 1: Check if your update channel supports Text Predictions
Text Predictions only work on supported update channels, so if your Outlook is on an unsupported one, the feature won’t appear even if enabled, supported channels include Current, Monthly Enterprise, Beta and Current Channel, while Semi-Annual Enterprise is not supported.
Go to File > Select Office Account > Review the Update Channel information.
- If you are using a work or school account and your device is on a Semi-Annual channel, please contact your IT administrator and request switching to a supported channel such as Monthly Enterprise or Current Channel. After the change, run updates again and restart Outlook. In case you do not know who is your IT admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
Step 2: Verify Connected Experiences settings
Text Predictions rely on cloud services and require certain privacy settings to be enabled.
Open Classic Outlook > Go to File > Select Office Account > Click Manage Settings under Account Privacy.
Ensure connected experiences, especially those that analyze your content, are enabled.
- If these options are disabled or appear locked, they may be controlled by your organization. In that case, please reach out to your IT administrator for assistance.
Step 4: Repair the Outlook app

Step 5: Reinstall office apps
Please uninstall Office apps, then reinstall them:
Go to office.com > Apps > All apps > Install apps > Microsoft 365 apps > Apps & devices > Install Office.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
