For my school I have to use Microsoft Authenticator to access my school email, recently I got a new phone and when I tried signing into Authenticator on my new phone it keeps telling me that I need to use Authenticator to sign into. Which doesn’t make any sense since that is the app I am trying to sign into. How do I fix this?

    Dear @Lilly Schroer,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, after getting a new phone, you are unable to sign in to Microsoft Authenticator because it asks you to use Authenticator for verification.

In this situation, the recommended solution is to contact your school’s IT Helpdesk or Microsoft 365 administrator and request an MFA (Authenticator) reset for your account. Once your authentication methods are reset, you will be able to sign in again and will be prompted to re-register Microsoft Authenticator on your new device.

As a forum moderator, I do not have administrative access to modify these settings, only your IT team can reset your MFA configuration.

You can also refer to this Microsoft support article for more information: Manage authentication methods - Microsoft Entra ID | Microsoft Learn

I hope information above help you resolve the issue, feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.
