Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hi @Penny Nelson,
I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for reaching out, and I appreciate you sharing the details of your situation.
Here are my recommendations, please try the steps below:
Before we go any further, I’d like to gently clarify that this is a user to user support forum. I’m not part of the Microsoft billing team, so I don’t have the ability to directly cancel subscriptions or intervene on billing matters. That said, I truly hope I can help review your situation, offer some guidance, and support you in finding the right next steps as best as possible.
1/ If there’s another admin in your organization
If your organization has another admin with the appropriate permissions (Global Administrator or Billing Administrator), please ask them to either:
- Update/replace the payment method on your behalf, or
- Temporarily assign you the required billing permissions so you can add the new payment method and complete payment.
This is usually the fastest path, since only accounts with the right billing role can manage invoices and payment methods.
2/ If you are the only admin
In case you’re the only admin and the portal is blocking you from adding a new payment method, the next best step is to contact the Billing Support team. They’re the specialized group for billing/payment access issues (including overdue invoices and compromised cards). Once you submit the request, you’ll be connected with a live support agent who can help address the billing restriction and guide you through the available options.
To help verify your account and speed up assistance, please have your tenant/organization name (and tenant ID if available), overdue invoice number(s) and amount(s), affected subscription name(s), the last four digits of the compromised card (no full card details), and any exact error message and/or screenshots ready in advance.
To proceed, please try the following steps:
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center with your Microsoft administrator account.
- On right bottom corner click on "Help & support"
-
- Describe your issue briefly then choose the "Contact support".
-
- You may be offered options for chat or call depending on your region and support availability.
I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.
Thank you again for your understanding and cooperation.
