    Hi @Munachi Iheanacho

Thank you for posting your question on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To better understand your situation and provide accurate guidance, I’d like to clarify a few details first. You mentioned that you’re new to Microsoft Fabric could you please confirm whether you’re looking to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) specifically for your Microsoft Fabric account?

If you’d like to add an authenticator method to your account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Go to My Sign Ins: https://mysignins.microsoft.com
    2. Sign in using your work account.
    3. Navigate to Security info. User's image
    4. Select Add sign-in method and choose your preferred option (such as Microsoft Authenticator).
    5. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the setup.

If your goal is to enhance sign-in security on your Windows PC, you can configure Windows Hello as a convenient and secure option. Here’s how you can set it up:

    1. Open the Settings app on your Windows device.
    2. Navigate to Accounts > Sign-in options.
    3. Under Ways to sign in, you’ll see several Windows Hello options:
      • Facial recognition (Windows Hello): Use an infrared camera for face sign-in.
      • Fingerprint recognition: Use a fingerprint reader (if available).
      • PIN: Set up a secure PIN for quick sign-in.
    4. Select your preferred option and click Set up.
    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

For more details, you can refer to the official Microsoft article: Configure Windows Hello - Microsoft Support

If I’ve misunderstood your request or if you meant something different (such as enabling 2FA for a specific Microsoft service), please feel free to clarify. I’d be happy to assist further.

Thank you for your time and patience. I look forward to your response!

To use two-step (multi-factor) authentication for accessing Microsoft Fabric on a Windows PC, configure MFA on the Microsoft account or Microsoft 365 work/school account that is used to sign in. Fabric relies on Microsoft Entra ID for authentication, so once MFA is enabled on the account, it applies when signing in to Fabric from the PC.

    For a personal Microsoft account:

    1. Go to the Microsoft account Security tab: https://account.microsoft.com/security and sign in.
    2. Select Manage how I sign in to view the ways to prove identity.
    3. Under Additional securityTwo-step verification, choose Turn on.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions. As part of setup, a QR code is provided to scan with the Microsoft Authenticator app on the mobile device.

For a Microsoft 365 work or school account (used with Fabric):

    1. Ensure the organization admin has enabled MFA for the account.
    2. Sign in to Microsoft 365 (for example, at https://www.office.com/) with the work or school account.
    3. After entering the password, when prompted for more information, select Next.
    4. The default method is the free Microsoft Authenticator app:
      • If the app is already installed on the mobile device, follow the prompts to add the account.
      • If not installed, use the download link shown during setup, install the app, then select Next and follow the prompts to complete registration.

Once this is configured, signing in to Fabric from the Windows PC will be authenticated by Microsoft Entra ID and will require the second factor (for example, an Authenticator notification or verification code) when needed.
