What do I do when I’ve sent a form to Microsoft about unlocking my account birthday have not answered in a week? Why is it so impossible to speak to an agent?

    Hello, Josefine Fransson.

Try contacting a Microsoft support specialist via live chat. To do this, sign in to your Microsoft account (the one that is not blocked) on the page https://support.microsoft.com/en-US/home/contact?SourceApp=smc2&ContactUsExperienceEntryPointAssetId=www.microsoft.com

In the search bar, type (without quotes) "agent support" and press Enter or click on Get Help. Ignore the search results, and click on the "Contact Support" button at the bottom. On the next page, select "Other Products" and "Billing and Account Profile questions" from the drop-down lists, and then click on "Confirm". Next, select the chat "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" and on the next page, enter (if requested) your (the one that works) email address and click on "Confirm". A chat window will open in a new tab. Wait for a specialist to respond and describe the problem.

Microsoft normally reviews Microsoft account unlock and recovery submissions within about 24 hours and replies to the working email address provided on the form.

If there has been no response for a week:

    1. Check the working email (including Junk/Spam) used on the form for any message from Microsoft.
    2. Submit the recovery/unlock form again, carefully following the guidance for improving your answers. You can retry as many times as needed, up to two times per day. See the guidance in Help with the Microsoft account recovery form and Account recovery unsuccessful.
    3. If the issue is that you cannot use or recognize the security info (phone/email) on the account, use the Sign-in Helper tool instead of the standard reset flow.
    4. If the account is locked and you see an aka.ms/ link on the sign-in page (for example, when the Next button is missing), use that link and follow the instructions to request reinstatement. Do not submit multiple different reinstatement forms in parallel, as this can slow down processing.

    Regarding speaking to an agent:

    • For account security and privacy, Microsoft support agents are not allowed to send password reset links, verification codes, or directly change account details. All ownership verification must go through the automated recovery or reinstatement forms.
    • For general technical questions (not for bypassing account security), use the Contact Microsoft Support or Get Help options:
      • Go to Contact Microsoft Support, describe the problem, select Get Help, then choose Contact Support if more help is needed.
      • Alternatively, from the Microsoft support pages, select I need to talk to a customer support agent and follow the prompts.

These channels can provide guidance on using the recovery tools, but they still cannot override the automated account security checks.
