Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
I understand how frustrating it is when emails from different accounts start mixing together like this.
Please help clarify a bit more so I can guide you precisely:
- Are the two email addresses from the same provider (e.g., both Outlook.com, or Gmail)?
- What account types are they (POP / IMAP / Exchange)?
- Did this start recently after adding or changing an account?
In the meantime, please try the following in Classic Outlook:
1, Check if both accounts are actually the same mailbox
- Go to “File” > “Account Settings” > “Account Settings”
- In the Email tab, review the Email Address + Server
If two accounts use the same server/username (even if display names differ), they may be duplicating.
2, Check delivery location (very common cause)
- In Account Settings, switch to the “Data Files” tab
- See if both accounts are delivering mail into the same data file (.PST/.OST)
If yes, Outlook will show the same messages across accounts.
3, Quick isolation test
- Temporarily remove one of the affected accounts: File > Account Settings > Account Settings > choose account > Remove
- Restart Outlook and check if duplication stops
This helps confirm whether the issue is caused by overlapping account configuration.
