The solid green image indicates the camera is detected but not delivering a valid video signal. Use the built‑in Windows camera troubleshooting steps to isolate whether this is a driver/app issue or faulty hardware.

    1. Test in another app
      • Open Start > Camera and check the preview.
      • Then test in another app (for example, a video‑calling app).
      • If the camera works in one app but not another, adjust or reset that app’s camera settings.
    2. Check for Windows and driver updates
      • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • If available, select Advanced options > Optional updates and install any driver updates for the camera.
      • Restart the PC and test the Camera app again.
    3. Run the Camera troubleshooter
      • Open Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Find Camera and select Run to let Windows detect and fix common camera issues.
    4. Reinstall or roll back the camera driver
      • Open Device Manager (search for device manager from Start).
      • Locate the camera under Cameras, Imaging devices, or Sound, video and game controllers.
      • If the problem started after an update:
        • Right‑click the camera > Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver (if available), then restart and test.
      • If rolling back is not available or does not help:
        • Right‑click the camera > Properties > Driver tab > Uninstall Device.
        • Select Attempt to remove the driver for this device (if shown) and confirm.
        • In Device Manager, select the Action menu > Scan for hardware changes so Windows reinstalls the driver, then restart and test.
    5. Check USB port (for external cameras)
      • If using an external webcam, plug it into a different USB port and repeat the tests above.
    6. Verify hardware compatibility
      • In Device Manager, open the camera Properties > Driver > Driver Details.
      • If a file containing stream.sys appears, the camera is too old and not compatible with modern Windows versions and should be replaced.

If the image remains solid green in all apps after these steps, the camera hardware is likely faulty and should be checked or replaced using the laptop or camera manufacturer’s support.
