Welcome Stephen Harding,
I understand how frustrating it can be when the Microsoft Store is not opening, missing from System Components, and reinstall attempts are failing with error 0x80073CF6 and 0x800700B7
Before we proceed, I’d like to clarify a couple of things to better narrow this down:
- Does the Store appear in Apps > Installed apps, or is it completely missing there?
- Have you recently performed any system cleanup, debloat script, or in-place upgrade before this issue started?
In the meantime, you can try the workaround steps below to troubleshoot the issue:
Option 1: Run Windows Store Apps troubleshooter
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Run Windows Store Apps
Option 2: Reset Store components manually
- Press Win + R, type
wsreset.exe, and press Enter - Wait for the process to complete and check if Store opens
Option 3: Repair system files
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run:
sfc /scannow - After that, run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
