A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Hi @marissa zepeda,
Good day. Thank you for reaching out, and I appreciate you sharing the details of your situation.
Before we proceed, please note that this is a user-to-user community forum. As a moderator, I don’t have access to your Microsoft 365 tenant, your account, or your device to make changes directly. However, I’ll do my best to support you by sharing the appropriate resources and directing you to the right support channels.
Based on the behavior you described, this suggests that the issue is not with the OneNote content itself, but rather with the authentication process that occurs when Microsoft needs to verify your account again.
Here are some steps you can try:
1/ Open the shared notebook in a private browsing session or in Microsoft Edge
- Please try opening the shared OneNote link in an InPrivate/Incognito window, or in Microsoft Edge if you are currently using another browser.
-
- This helps rule out issues caused by cached session data, browser profile settings, or saved sign-in tokens.
2/ Clear your browser cache and cookies, and review your browser privacy settings
Old or corrupted browser data can interfere with Microsoft 365 sign-in flows. In addition, if third-party cookies or strict tracking protection are enabled, the sign-in process may be blocked when Microsoft attempts to verify your account.
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies completely, close and reopen the browser
-
- Then review your browser’s privacy settings and temporarily allow cookies for Microsoft-related sign-in pages before testing the shared OneNote again.
-
4/ Disable browser extensions or security add-ins temporarily
Ad blockers, privacy extensions, script blockers, and some web security add-ins can prevent the Microsoft sign-in page from loading correctly.
- Temporarily disable any such extensions, restart the browser, and try accessing the notebook once more.
-
5/ Contact your IT department
If possible, try opening the notebook using a different internet connection, such as a mobile hotspot. If the issue does not occur there, this may indicate that the current network is blocking Microsoft authentication services. In that case, your IT team may need to review proxy, firewall, SSL inspection, or web filtering settings to ensure Microsoft sign-in endpoints are allowed.

Additionally, if needed, your IT team can also raise a support ticket with Microsoft Support through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for deeper investigation. They have access to backend configurations and can perform a more in-depth investigation. At the very least, they can provide the most effective workaround to ensure your experience remains smooth and secure.
