An application or feature powered by Windows Copilot to assist users with tasks and productivity
Welcome Jack,
I understand how frustrating it can be when you would like to completely prevent Microsoft Copilot from appearing or running on your PC.
Before we proceed, I’d like to clarify a couple of things to better narrow this down:
- Are you currently using Windows 10 or Windows 11?
- Are you trying to remove Copilot from the taskbar only, or fully disable it system‑wide?
In the meantime, you can try the workaround steps below to troubleshoot the issue:
Option 1: Remove Copilot from the taskbar
- Right‑click the taskbar
- Turn off the Copilot toggle (or remove it from taskbar settings)
Option 2: Disable Copilot via Registry (Windows Home)
- Press Windows + R, type regedit
- Go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot - If the key does not exist, create it
- Create a DWORD named TurnOffWindowsCopilot
- Set its value to 1
Option 3: Remove Copilot app (if installed as a Microsoft Store app)
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps
- Locate Microsoft Copilot
- Select Uninstall
I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
