Hi! I'm trying to learn Microsoft Designer since Publisher will be discontinued. I use Publisher to create crafts and bulletin boards for kindergarten. How do I copy/paste a picture from Google Images onto a blank page in Designer? It was so easy with Publisher. I can't seem to figure it out with Designer.

Thanks for any help.

Hello @Linda Falkner

Because each device and browser may be set up differently, I’ll explain what I did to see if it might be helpful for you.

In Google Images, I right-click on the image I want to copy and choose “Copy image.” Then I paste it into Microsoft Designer (web version) successfully, either by right-clicking and selecting "Paste" or by pressing "Ctrl + V".

Designer works differently from Publisher, so the workflow changes a bit. Instead of pasting directly from Google Images, first save the picture, then insert it into Designer.

    1. In the browser, open the image in Google Images and save it to the computer (for example, right‑click > Save image as…).
    2. Go to https://designer.microsoft.com and sign in with a personal Microsoft account.
    3. Start a new design (blank or from a template).
    4. In Designer, use the Images option to upload the saved picture from the computer. The image will appear on the canvas and can be resized, moved, or edited.

Designer is optimized for working with uploaded images and AI‑generated content rather than direct copy/paste from web pages, so saving and uploading is the supported path.
