A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Unterstützung ist nur auf Englisch möglich.
Authentication data not fully appearing on a new device can have several causes. Try these steps in order:
- Check that the backup was created on the old device
- On the old phone (if still available), open Microsoft Authenticator at least once so it can sync.
- Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.
- Verify iCloud/backup settings (for iOS)
- Enable iCloud Drive, iCloud Keychain, and iCloud Backup on the old iPhone.
- In the iCloud backup list, make sure “Authenticator” is turned on.
- Use Authenticator version 6.8.33 or later and open the app once before switching phones.
- Restore on the new iOS device
- Uninstall Microsoft Authenticator on the new iPhone.
- Reinstall the app from the App Store.
- Open Authenticator and check if the backup now appears to restore.
- If some accounts are still missing
- For personal Microsoft accounts, use the “Forgot password” or alternative verification methods (SMS, email) to re-add them.
- For work/school accounts, contact the organization’s IT admin and ask them to reset MFA so the accounts can be set up again on the new device.
If push notifications or sign-ins fail on the new device, also check:
- App is not locked when approving sign-ins.
- Notifications are enabled for Authenticator and the device has internet access.
- Device date and time are set automatically and correctly.
For persistent sign-in or MFA lockout issues with a work/school account where no other admin can help, contact Microsoft Support (Data Protection team) via the official customer service phone numbers so they can verify identity and help restore access.
