A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Good day, and I appreciate the clear explanation of your concern.
For your concern, bulk pasting rows from Excel is supported in Microsoft List's grid view, but you need to start the paste in the first blank column/the “Add new item” row and one important condition is that the values must match the list’s column types, and then you use Exit grid view to save.
Therefore, based on your sharing, it is likely that when you first add the pasted row, List receives the data but during validation, the row is considered as invalid (don’t match the list column type or the item validation rules, etc.) so the row isn't saved and disappear when you exit Grid view.
In this case, I highly recommend following this guidance to import rows into Microsoft List and identify which has caused the issue:
- Open the list and select Edit in grid view.
- Scroll to the bottom and select the "Add new item" row
- In Excel, copy only the rows/columns that match the list columns. Make sure required columns are included and that values fit the column type (for example, Choice, Date, Number, Yes/No, Lookup, etc.).
- Press Ctrl+V to paste into the List and click into another row/cell so the pasted row loses focus and commits.
- After that, scroll across the row/columns and check for any red triangle/error marker or any value in red. This is the signal that there is an error/invalid value field in your pasted data and if you don't modify it before exiting Grid view, that row may not be saved.
- When finished checking, select "Exit grid view".
