Account linking issues

I am trying to link my organisation account to my Personal Microsoft but I am unable to do so . I tried a lot . Everytime it's says use edge the after using get the same thing again and again.

Based on your inquiry, if you are trying to fully merge your work or school account with your personal Microsoft account, that is not supported. These account types cannot be combined, only used side by side. If you are trying to link them for Microsoft Rewards/Bing, that is only supported in that specific scenario and may also depend on your organization’s admin settings.

If the page keeps asking you to use Microsoft Edge and then loops, this can happen when cached sign-in data, browser profiles, or organization sign-in policies interfere with the sign-in flow.  

To break this cycle and isolate the issue, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:

1/ Use an InPrivate Window

An InPrivate session isolates the browser from your cached credentials, preventing automatic login attempts.

• Open Microsoft Edge.
• Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + N (Mac) to open an InPrivate window.
• Navigate directly to the account management page you are trying to use and attempt the linking process again.

2/ Clear stale identity cookies

Clear cookies and cached files in Microsoft Edge, restart the browser, and retry.

3/ Create a dedicated work profile

If the local cache isn't the issue, your active browser profiles might be experiencing a deep identity conflict.

• Click on your Profile icon in the top-right corner of Edge.
• Select Set up a new profile > Work or School.
• Sign into this new profile using your organization account only.
• Attempt to initiate the link to your personal account from within this specific browser context.

If the issue continues, it may be controlled by your organization’s settings. In that case, please check with your IT admin whether this type of account linking is allowed for your tenant. For Microsoft Rewards specifically, Microsoft notes that account linking must be enabled by the administrator.

Account linking between a work/school account and a personal Microsoft account is only supported in specific ways and depends on your organization’s settings.

Key points:

1. Work/school and personal accounts cannot be merged
   • A work or school account cannot be combined or merged into a Microsoft personal account. They remain separate identities.
   • They can only be used side by side in supported scenarios.
2. How Microsoft Rewards account linking works
   • Microsoft Rewards can only be earned and redeemed with a personal Microsoft account.
   • To link for Rewards:
     1. Go to https://www.bing.com and sign in with the work or school account.
     2. Select the profile picture and choose Activate rewards & more.
     3. Sign in with the personal Microsoft account.
     4. Confirm the accounts shown and select Link now.
   • After linking, Rewards points earned from searches with the work/school account go to the personal account.
3. Admin control may be blocking linking
   • Account linking for Rewards must be enabled by the organization’s IT admin.
   • If the admin has disabled account linking, the accounts will either not link or will be automatically unlinked.
   • In this case, contact the organization’s IT administrator and ask whether account linking is allowed and enabled.
4. Other supported ways to use both accounts
   • Even if direct linking is blocked, both accounts can still be used side by side:
     • Add both accounts in Outlook (work/school plus personal).
     • Use separate OneDrive areas for work/school and personal files.
     • Create separate Microsoft Edge profiles for work/school and personal accounts and sign each profile into the appropriate account.

If the site keeps telling to “use Edge” and then loops, this typically indicates a policy or sign-in restriction controlled by the organization (for example, requiring Edge with a work profile and possibly blocking certain account-linking actions). In that case, only the IT admin can change the policy.
