Found the last version of OneDrive that works with Ventura 13.7.8

Like me, I'm guessing you are holding on to your old mac

Delete the app on the App folder (uninstall any newer/current versions of Microsoft Onedrive)

Install this version of the app (took some digging to find out the last version that works)

Remember to disable auto-update

    Hi @Erick Goh

Could you please let us know the exact version of macOS Ventura you are running?

If you encountered the error message stating that your Mac has macOS 13.7.8 installed and the application requires macOS 14.4 or newer, this is due to recent updates in OneDrive.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has ended support for Ventura in the latest OneDrive build. The current OneDrive app in the Mac App Store now requires macOS 14.4 or later, so Ventura 13.7.8 is no longer accepted by that installer.

You may try downloading a previous version of OneDrive (26.088.0510.0004 (May 29, 2026)) here: https://oneclient.sfx.ms/Mac/Installers/26.088.0510.0004/universal/OneDrive.pkg

You will need to turn off auto-updates, otherwise OneDrive will upgrade itself to the newest version and stop working again. However, using older versions may expose you to security vulnerabilities and compatibility issues.

As a safer alternative, you can continue to use OneDrive via the web.

Download and install the standalone OneDrive sync app for macOS Ventura as follows:

    1. Go to the OneDrive download page and choose the Mac standalone option: Download OneDrive.
    2. If the Mac currently has the Mac App Store version of OneDrive installed, uninstall it first. The standalone sync app is required for full functionality such as Folder Backup and to avoid conflicts.
    3. Open the downloaded installer (.pkg) and follow the prompts to install OneDrive.
    4. After installation, open OneDrive from the Applications folder and sign in with the Microsoft account or work/school account.

If OneDrive was previously installed and is failing to run, ensure only one version is present:

    1. Remove any existing OneDrive installation from the Mac App Store.
    2. If there are issues switching versions, run the reset script inside the existing OneDrive app bundle:
      • In Applications, right-click OneDrive > Show Package Contents.
      • Go to Contents > Resources.
      • Double-click ResetOneDriveApp.command or ResetOneDriveAppStandalone.command.
    3. Then install the latest standalone OneDrive for macOS from the standalone download link above.

This will provide a standalone OneDrive build compatible with supported versions of macOS such as Ventura.

    Hi @Erick Goh @Campbell Peake @CMW

I completely understand how disruptive this feels, especially when an update rolls out unexpectedly and impacts your ability to work. It’s frustrating to lose stability in tools you rely on daily.

Just to clarify, we're not Microsoft Support, this forum is a user-to-user support space. We don’t have access to Microsoft’s internal systems, nor can we control update behavior, provide official legacy builds, or intervene directly in product functionality. What we can do is share observations, testing results, and publicly available information to help make sense of what’s happening.

From testing on macOS Tahoe, the earlier mentioned installer link worked on my end. However, based on your environment and results, it does seem that the older versions aren’t consistently downloadable or installable.

At present, there isn’t a reliable or supported way to lock OneDrive to a specific version on macOS. The practical options available are:

    • Continue accessing files through the browser for uploading, downloading, and sharing.
    • Consider moving to a newer supported macOS version or hardware when feasible, to ensure compatibility with current builds.

I know these aren’t ideal solutions, but I hope this helps clarify the current behavior and gives you a path forward.
