All text, in all tool bars for all apps, is too small. I have tried multiple suggested fixes, but none have worked.

    Welcome Christopher Tigh,

I understand how frustrating it can be when all toolbar text across apps appears too small even after trying common display and accessibility adjustments.

Before proceeding, I’d like to clarify a couple of points:

    • Does this happen on all apps including built‑in apps like File Explorer and Settings, or only certain apps?
    • Are you using multiple monitors or a high‑resolution display (such as 4K)?

In addition to Q&A Assist's suggested steps, please try these extra checks to move forward:

Option 1: Check screen resolution (ensure native resolution is used)

    • Go to Settings > System > Display
    • Under Display resolution, select the recommended (native) option

Option 2: Override DPI scaling for specific apps (if issue is worse in some apps)

    • Right‑click the app shortcut and select Properties
    • Go to Compatibility tab
    • Click Change high DPI settings
    • Check Override high DPI scaling behavior
    • Select System (Enhanced), then apply and reopen the app

Option 3: Run ClearType text tuning

    • Press Start and search for Adjust ClearType text
    • Enable ClearType and complete the tuning steps

Option 4: Update display adapter driver

    • Go to Device Manager > Display adapters
    • Right‑click your graphics device and select Update driver
    • Restart the device after updating

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.

Use Windows 11’s accessibility and display settings to increase text size and overall scaling so that toolbar text in all apps becomes larger and easier to read.

Follow these steps in order and test after each change:

    1. Increase text size only (least disruptive)
      1. Select Start > Settings > Accessibility > Text size.
      2. Move the Text size slider to the right until the sample text looks comfortable.
      3. Select Apply. This increases text in many UI elements (menus, title bars, some toolbars) without scaling everything else.
    2. Increase overall scale (makes apps and toolbars bigger)
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Display.
      2. Under Scale & layout, open the Scale drop-down.
      3. Choose a higher value such as 125% or 150%.
      4. Sign out and back in if prompted so all apps pick up the new scale.
    3. Use Magnifier for temporary zoom If some toolbars are still too small but changing system-wide settings is not desirable:
      1. Press Windows key + Plus (+) to turn on Magnifier and zoom in.
      2. Press Windows key + Plus (+) again to zoom in further, or Windows key + Minus (-) to zoom out.
      3. Press Windows key + Esc to turn Magnifier off.

These three options can be combined—for example, a moderate Scale (125%) plus a slightly larger Text size slider often makes toolbar text in most apps readable without making everything excessively large.
