I am using high end asus gaming laptop with this processed too. But too disappointed that I cannot update to WIN 11 because the processor is not supported too bad., I want Microsoft to add this CPU to the list of supported CPUs.

I have an upgraded MSI-GV62-7RD with an I7-7700HQ. I want Windows 11, but cannot get it as my laptop is 1 year too old. To make things worse, I bought a 7TH gen laptop which was the previous model when I should have gotten the current 8TH gen version. MICROSOFT PLEASE SUPPORT THE I&-7700HQ.

Lots of people purchased these premium processors never fathoming that they would be phased out when the rest of their equipment is probably top notch too. What a shame. Please add to list. It would be a very respected move.

It's ridiculous that this processor isn't supported. As an Insider, I was running Windows 11 and had absolutely no issues, then one day, Microsoft decided it wasn't going to support the i7-7700HQ. I'd like to know why, and a vague answer that Insider's had issues with it is BS.

It is nuts that the Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.8 GHz isn't compatible with Windows 11. Are there plans to support it? This is the only thing preventing my upgrade from 10 to 11. Everything else more than meets requirements.

I have just received the windows 11 update for the i7-7700hq on my acer predator although I dont think I was supposed to? What I did was go into Settings>Insider settings, and then switched from beta channel to release preview and then back to beta channel, this then triggered windows 11 to automatically download in windows update menu. All seems to be running fine in windows 11 although I still have a message displaying that my PC doesnt meet the requirements

Wow this actually worked. Created an account just so I could confirm this. So, at first, it didnt work. Just to clarify, what you need to do is change the insider program setting as mentioned and then go to the windows update section (which is different). over here when have it check for new updates once you do the insider program change. This is what triggered it for me. otherwise, I had the message saying my pc isn't supported. Hope that helps and thank you for the suggestion @DianelWhite-8659

THANKS A LOT! Been looking at specs and was wondering why I couldn't. Crossing fingers it wasn't held back, due to over 40% kernel crashes (one of the only 2 things I could find to explain it, the other being DCH manufacturing standards, which I couldn't find much info on). Thanks again!

No you do not have to be a windows insider. In fact unless you want to be working on the bleeding edge with versions that often have lots of bugs to work on, you should not become one.

Simply add the Microsoft supplied option to ignore cpu, etc, and continue. Pull the iso version of Windows 11 from microsoft and do a normal upgrade. All you apps and data (except for a few that are Known not to work on windows 11) will migrate over. All normal windows updates come to your machine including the recent added Android support using Android apps from the preview Amazon Store app.

Been running fine on Windows 11 since the October 5 drop on this Dell laptop that has i7-1100hq. Did have to double check that Core Isolation was activated. It wasn't initially because of a copy of Virtualbox. (virtualbox still doesn't work on windows 10 or 11 with core Isolation active)

@RMore Nice, do you have the one with 1060 or 1070 or the 1080, and how is it putting up with after all these years? I have 1060 and its doing alright except for this stupit Windows 11 incompatible processor list.
Anyway, to access Insider Settings, you need to register your microsoft account as an Windows Instider Account, which you can do here "https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/users/". Once you register then its probably best to resstart your computer and follow @Daniel White workaround that he mentioned here and you are good to go.
BTW to get to Insider Settings, just click on the Windows Start button and type "Insider" and Windows Search should show you the Windows Insider Settings, which is inside Settings -> Windows Update -> Windows Insider Program. Win11 is worth the try, all the best. (Y)
