    Hi, Frank Thorne

If by “second sheet” you mean a second page showing in Print Preview, that page is usually not a separate worksheet. It is often caused by Excel thinking there is extra content, formatting, a print area, or a page break beyond your real data.

Besides the solutions provided by the Q&A Assist, here are some suggestions you can try:

First, check the print preview by going to File > Print and see whether Excel is showing page 2 as blank or almost blank. If it is, go back to the worksheet and select only the cells you actually want to print. Then go to Page Layout > Print Area > Set Print Area. This tells Excel to print only that selected part, so the extra page should no longer appear.

It is also recommended that you check View > Page Break Preview. If you see a blue page boundary stretching into empty rows or columns, drag the boundary back around your real data, or use Page Layout > Breaks > Reset All Page Breaks.

If the second page still appears, there may be hidden formatting or an invisible object far away from your data. Select the empty rows and columns after your worksheet data, then use Home > Clear > Clear All. Save the file, close it, reopen it, and check File > Print again.

As a quick workaround, if you only need to print now, use File > Print and set the page range to print only page 1. That avoids changing the header while you clean up the worksheet layout.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.

Headers and footers are set per worksheet, but if multiple sheets are grouped, any header/footer change applies to all grouped sheets. The second sheet is likely grouped with the main worksheet.

To stop the header on the second sheet from changing the first sheet:

    1. Check for grouped sheets:
      • Look at the workbook title bar; if it shows [Group], multiple sheets are selected.
      • Also check the sheet tabs: grouped sheets appear with a white background together.
    2. Ungroup the sheets:
      • Right‑click any selected sheet tab and select Ungroup Sheets.
      • Or click any sheet tab that is not part of the group (if available).
    3. Now select only the second sheet’s tab.
    4. Remove or change its header:
      • Go to Insert > Header & Footer.
      • Excel switches to Page Layout view.
      • Click in the header area on that sheet and press Delete or Backspace to clear it.
    5. Switch back to Normal view if desired: View > Normal.

If several worksheets need their headers removed at once, select only those worksheets, open Page Layout > dialog launcher in Page Setup, go to Header/Footer and set Header and Footer to (none). This will not affect unselected sheets.
