Outlook updated and I cannot find where to shut off the message preview with the help function

I would like to follow up and provide an additional option to turn off the message preview in the new Outlook.

Besides going to Settings > Mail > Layout, you may also try the following steps:

1. Open the new Outlook.
2. Go to the View tab.
3. Select Message Preview.
4. Choose Hide preview text.
5. 

After selecting Hide preview text, the message preview should no longer appear in your message list.

From my understanding, you would like to turn off the message preview in the new Outlook after the recent update. Please correct me if I am misunderstanding your request so I can assist you properly. 

To turn off the message preview in the new Outlook, please follow the steps below: 

1. Open the new Outlook. 
2. Click the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner. 
3. Go to Mail > Layout. 
4. Scroll down to the Message list format. 
5. Uncheck Show preview text. 
6. 
7. Save changes 

Once this option is unchecked, the message preview text should no longer appear in your message list.
