Cannot mark a task as completed

I am unable to mark tasks as completed and they won't move out of my list in Microsoft planner

Based on your description, this behavior can sometimes be related to display settings, synchronization delays, or the application experience.

I have tested this behavior in my own environment in Planner on the web, and I was able to successfully mark tasks as completed and have them move out of the active list as expected.

To better understand what’s happening on your end, could you please share a screenshot of the behavior you’re experiencing?

In the meantime, please help me review and check these steps to narrow down the problem: 

1.Check Filters in Planner

• In your plan, click Filter and select Clear all filters
• Ensure that tasks with the status Completed are not being hidden

2.Update the Task Status via Task Details

• Open the task
• In the Progress field, manually set it to Completed
• Confirm whether the status changes

3.Refresh the Application

• Refresh the page (or close and reopen Planner/Teams)
• Then check if the task status updates correctly

4.Try Planner in a web Browser

• Please open Planner directly in your browser (instead of Teams, if applicable)
• Check whether you are able to mark tasks as completed there
