Managing sound and video settings during Teams meetings and calls for optimal communication
Dear @John Kelly,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
Based on your description, your Mac camera is not recognized in Microsoft Teams and only your iPhone camera is available.
The issue is likely caused by your iPhone (Continuity Camera) overriding the Mac’s built‑in camera, or Teams not detecting the camera due to permission or app conflicts.
Which version of Teams are you getting the issue (Teams desktop app or Teams web)?
Does it appear any error message?
In the meantime, here are some suggestions you can try (or check again)
Disable iPhone Continuity Camera
Your Mac may automatically select your iPhone as the camera if it is nearby.
- On your iPhone: Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff > Turn off “Continuity Camera”
- Restart Microsoft Teams and check again
Check camera permissions
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera
- Turn Microsoft Teams OFF > ON
- Restart Teams
Close other apps using the camera
Only one application can use the camera at a time. Close apps such as Zoom, FaceTime, or browsers using camera.
If you have tried all the methods above, try to uninstall and reinstall the app to check whether the issue still persists or not.
I hope my information can help you resolve the issue, please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.
