Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
Hi Ken,
Since you're using Classic Outlook for Windows and your Inbox layout has changed, the quickest way to restore the default view is:
- Open Inbox.
- Go to the View tab.
- Click Reset View and confirm. This restores the folder's default layout.
- If needed, select View > Change View > Compact (the default inbox view in Classic Outlook).
- Check View > Reading Pane > Right if you want the traditional message list on the left and email preview on the right.
If Reset View doesn't fix it, you can reset all Outlook view customizations:
- Close Outlook completely.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
outlook.exe /cleanviews - Press Enter. Outlook will start and recreate the default views.
If the first column shows your name instead of the sender:
- Go to View > View Settings > Columns.
- Make sure From is displayed.
- Move From above To, or remove To from the visible columns.
