Hello Microsoft Support,

I urgently need assistance recovering my Microsoft account.

I am the owner of the account, but I am completely locked out of my Windows laptop. When I try to verify my identity, Microsoft asks me to enter the last four digits of my recovery phone number. I enter the correct last four digits, and Microsoft says it has sent a verification code, but I never receive the SMS.

Because I cannot receive the verification code, I cannot sign in to my Microsoft account, reset my Windows PIN, access my BitLocker recovery key, or reset my laptop.

I have access to the recovery phone number, but no verification messages are being delivered. I have already tried requesting the code multiple times, restarting my phone, and checking my network, but the issue persists.

I kindly request your assistance in:

  • Investigating why the verification SMS is not being delivered.
  • Providing an alternative method to verify my identity.
  • Helping me regain access to my Microsoft account and Windows laptop.

I am happy to provide any information necessary to prove that I am the rightful owner of the account.

Thank you for your time and support.

    Hi Angelin Reji,

I understand how stressful this is, especially since the verification SMS is preventing access to both your Microsoft account and Windows laptop.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors here cannot access your account, investigate SMS delivery for your specific number, send verification codes, or manually verify ownership.

For this situation, please try the following official recovery paths:

    1. First, avoid requesting the code repeatedly for a while, as too many attempts can temporarily stop codes from being sent. Then review the checks in this article, including blocked unknown senders, full SMS inbox, mobile carrier filtering, unsupported VoIP numbers, and alternate verification methods: Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues.
    2. If another verification option appears, such as email, Authenticator, or “Use a different way to sign in,” try that instead of SMS.
    3. If you still cannot receive any code, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper or account recovery form: Help with the Microsoft account recovery form. Please note that if two-step verification is enabled and no alternate verification method is available, the recovery form may not be able to restore access.
    4. For the BitLocker recovery key, use another device and check: Find your BitLocker recovery key. Sign in with the Microsoft account that was used on the laptop and match the recovery key ID shown on the locked device. Microsoft Support cannot retrieve, provide, or recreate a lost BitLocker recovery key.

If the BitLocker recovery key cannot be located and account recovery is not successful, the available Windows recovery options may be limited. In some cases, resetting the device may be required, and this can remove files from the device. Because of that, it should be considered only after all recovery options have been checked.

I hope this helps point you to the correct recovery options.
