Every time I right click in outlook it closes the application. I use this a lot to copy/paste. I tried suggestions from the web, but nothing seems to help.

I had my company's tech support team remote into my computer for this issue, they tried a few things, but what worked in the end was completely deleting Microsoft applications off of my desktop and redownloading them.

It took about an hour but once it was back up and I was signed in it was working as it should.

Know Bug EX1409958 - Some users may encounter crashes in the classic Outlook desktop app when right clicking in an email message.

    Fixes:

Update to Version 2606 (Build 16.0.20131.20090 or later).
Or delete the Registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\ExperimentConfigs

    Hi Jess,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, when using Outlook Classic, the application closes automatically whenever you right-click.

Please try the following steps and let me know whether the issue is resolved:

    1. Check Outlook on the web
    • Please try using Outlook on the web and verify whether you experience the same behavior.
    1. Create a new Outlook profile
    • Step 1: Completely close Outlook.
    • Step 2: Open Control Panel
    • Step 3: Select Mail (Microsoft Outlook) > Show Profiles.
    • Step 4: Click Add to create a new profile.
    • Step 5: Select the newly created profile and choose Always use this profile.

After that, open Outlook again and check whether the issue still occurs.

    1. Test with a different mouse
    • Additionally, please try using a different mouse to determine whether the issue may be related to the hardware device.

Additionally, there is a known issue that has been acknowledged by Microsoft. When you right-click an email in Classic Outlook, the application may unexpectedly crash. You can find more information in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center under issue ID EX1409958.
