Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 11
Hi Amirah Stanley,
I understand why this would be annoying, especially if you prefer Google but your searches keep being sent to Yahoo.
A few questions that may help narrow this down:
google.com and search there?edge://settings/searchEngines, do you see Yahoo or “Secure Search” listed as the default?edge://policy.Since you mentioned McAfee WebAdvisor, that would be the first thing I’d check. Some security/search extensions can change or protect the browser’s search settings and McAfee WebAdvisor/Secure Search is commonly related to Yahoo search redirects.
Please try these steps:
edge://settings/searchEnginesedge://extensions and temporarily turn off McAfee WebAdvisor. If the setting keeps changing back even after disabling the extension, it may also be worth checking Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps for any unfamiliar search-related programs and running a scan with Windows Security.
While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.
