    Hi Amirah Stanley,

I understand why this would be annoying, especially if you prefer Google but your searches keep being sent to Yahoo.

A few questions that may help narrow this down:

    • Does this happen only when searching from the Edge address bar or also when you go directly to google.com and search there?
    • After disabling McAfee WebAdvisor, does the search still redirect to Yahoo?
    • On edge://settings/searchEngines, do you see Yahoo or “Secure Search” listed as the default?
    • Is your Edge browser managed by a school, work account, or organization? You can check this by opening edge://policy.

Since you mentioned McAfee WebAdvisor, that would be the first thing I’d check. Some security/search extensions can change or protect the browser’s search settings and McAfee WebAdvisor/Secure Search is commonly related to Yahoo search redirects.

    Please try these steps:

    • Open Microsoft Edge and go to edge://settings/searchEngines
    • Under the address bar search settings, set Google as the default search engine.
    • If you see Yahoo, Secure Search, or anything you don’t recognize in the search engine list, remove it if Edge allows you to.
    • Then go to edge://extensions and temporarily turn off McAfee WebAdvisor.
    • Close and reopen Edge, then try searching again.

If the setting keeps changing back even after disabling the extension, it may also be worth checking Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps for any unfamiliar search-related programs and running a scan with Windows Security.

While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.
