Which Microsoft Office product do you have? And which operating system are you running? If you are running Office on a Mac, start Word, click Word on the main menu bar and then click Sign Out. Restart your Mac and then open Word again. Sign back in.

    Hi, Mare Saunders

The yellow triangle usually means Office is signed in, but it cannot properly verify the Microsoft account, subscription, or saved password. This can happen after a password change, expired payment method, old saved sign-in data, or if Office is still holding onto the wrong account.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

First, open Word or Excel, then go to File > Account. Sign out of every account shown there, not just the one with the warning. Close all Office apps, restart the computer, then open Word again and sign in only with the Microsoft account that owns the Personal subscription.

Next, go to your Microsoft account Services and subscriptions page in a browser and make sure the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription is active. Also check Payment options, because an expired or declined card can trigger this warning even if Office still opens.

If the triangle still appears, it is recommended that you run Microsoft’s activation troubleshooter on the same Windows PC. After that, open any Office app and go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

If none of that clears it, repair Office from Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft 365 > Modify > Quick Repair. If Quick Repair does not help, try Online Repair. This refreshes Office without needing to manually remove your files.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
