Hi, Lewis Hurlbutt
This is most likely connected to the Windows 10 end-of-support change, not necessarily a broken Excel installation. Buying the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates helps keep Windows 10 safer for a limited time, but it does not make Windows 10 fully supported again for all Microsoft 365 app features.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
First, open Excel and go to File > Account. Check both the Office version and the Update Options button. Select Update Now and let Office install anything available. If the message is caused by an older Microsoft 365 build, updating Office may clear it.
Next, check whether the PC can upgrade to Windows 11. That is the proper long-term fix, because Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 may continue to open, but support is limited and reliability issues may appear over time.
If the computer cannot move to Windows 11 yet, it is recommended that you keep Windows 10 ESU active, keep Office fully updated, and use Excel on the web as a temporary workaround for any feature that shows the unsupported message.
