I am trying to update my old computer. It has a domain server attached to everything, and it is interfering with my ability to send and receive emails. I know longer use this server. How do I change this in MS Outlook?

    Dear @Cindy Jo Perri Hunter,

Thank you for reaching out. If your old computer is still referencing a previous domain mail server, Outlook may be using outdated account settings or an old Outlook profile, which can affect your ability to send and receive emails.

To better understand the issue, could you please confirm:

    • What type of email account you are using (Exchange, IMAP, or POP)?
    • Are you seeing any specific error messages when sending or receiving emails? If so, please share a screenshot.
    • Does the issue occur in Outlook only, or does it also occur when accessing your mailbox through Outlook on the web?

If you no longer use the old mail server, please try navigating to Outlook > File > Account Settings > Account Settings and verify whether the old account or server information is still listed. Microsoft Support documentation indicates that account settings can be updated from Outlook's Account Settings menu or through the Mail settings in Control Panel.

For reference, please refer to: Change or update email account settings in Outlook for Windows

Additionally, please try these steps below and check if it works:

    1.Repair Outlook:

    • Close Outlook and all Office apps.
    • Open Setting > App > Installed apps
    • Find Outlook for Window and right-click on it and select Advanced option.
    • Choose Repair Option.
    • Restart your computer after the repair is complete.

    2.Clear Cached Credentials:

    • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
    • Type control and hit Enter to open the Control Panel.
    • Navigate to User Accounts > Credential Manager.
    • Remove any stored credentials related to your old account.

    3.Disconnect work/school accounts:

    • Open Settings from the Start menu.
    • Go to Accounts > Access work or school.
    • Select any listed accounts and click Disconnect.

    4.Clear AppData Folders:

    • Navigate to C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft.
    • Delete the contents of the IdentityCache and OneAuth folders while keeping the folder structure intact.

    5.Create a fresh Outlook profile:

Open Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add, then re-add your account. After testing, set the new profile as default if the issue is resolved. Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support

I’ll continue working with you until we get this resolved. Please feel free to reply with the requested details, and I’ll provide the next steps right away.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
