Is it possible to still get OneDrive for Business plan 2 with 25TB storage?

To answer your question: Yes, but with an important caveat as of 2026.

Currently, OneDrive for Business Plan 2 is no longer listed as an available standalone plan for new purchases on Microsoft's current OneDrive business plans page.

However, the 25 TB per‑user path still exists if your tenant has a qualifying subscription that includes OneDrive Plan 2 / SharePoint Plan 2 (e.g., Office 365 E3/E5), with 5+ licenses and at least one user who has filled 90% of their 5 TB. Once those conditions are met, your admin requests the increase from Microsoft up to 25 TB per user. Beyond 25 TB, extra space is provisioned as 25 TB SharePoint team sites.

Yes, this is not entirely clear from the viewpoint of if this storage is only accessible for a particular user, or if it can be set up for the organization itself. We have 7 Business Premium Licenses and have a current Business Plan 2 that has almost reached a 5TB capacity, so not sure how this would translate in having an additional accessible space for all users up to 25TB? Would the Business Plan 2 need to be converted into an Office 365 E3/E5?

The 25 TB maximum is per OneDrive account/user, not a shared 25 TB pool for the whole organization. OneDrive is designed for an individual user’s work files. For department-level or organization-level shared storage, Microsoft recommends using SharePoint.

With Microsoft 365 Business Premium, users get 1 TB OneDrive storage per user. Microsoft’s current OneDrive service description lists the 5 TB increase specifically for Microsoft 365 E3/E5, not Business Premium.

Moving to Office 365/Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 would not create a single 25 TB shared storage space for the organization. E3/E5 OneDrive also starts at 1 TB per user and can be increased to 5 TB per user; additional needs may require Microsoft representative/support involvement for eligible customers.

Since standalone OneDrive for Business Plan 2 is being retired, it is better to plan a transition to Microsoft 365 suites, OneDrive/SharePoint capacity add-ons, or pay-as-you-go storage options. If the requirement is shared storage for all users, the right approach is SharePoint, with additional SharePoint storage or Microsoft 365 SharePoint pay-as-you-go storage, rather than using one user’s OneDrive as an organization repository.

Apologies I did not respond or accept yesterday's answer, as I was looking further into one of the links you provided. We are currently looking specifically into the Microsoft 365 Archive option that can be linked to our SharePoint at this point. Depending on our service providers feedback, I wanted to leave the conversion open currently for additional queries.

From what you've described, it sounds like the discussion is still centered around storage management, but through a slightly different approach than what we originally discussed. My initial understanding was that the goal was to increase the amount of active storage available to users, whereas Microsoft 365 Archive focuses more on moving less frequently accessed SharePoint content into an archived state to help reduce active storage consumption and associated costs. I think it's a worthwhile option to explore.
