    Hi Monique9000

I understand that New Outlook for Windows is showing “Access blocked: Authorization Error / Error 400: invalid_request” when it tries to retrieve mail from your Gmail account. Please reply with the following details:

    • Whether Gmail opens normally in the same browser.
    • Which browser is currently set as the Windows default browser.
    • Whether the error also says “Missing required parameter: redirect_uri”.
    • Whether this is a personal Gmail account or a Google Workspace account managed by an organization.

Meanwhile, try the steps below if your account is personal:

    1) Temporarily set Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome as your default browser

    • Open Windows Settings.
    • Go to Apps > Default apps.
    • Set Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome as the default browser.
    • Fully close New Outlook.
    • Reopen New Outlook and try the Gmail sign-in again.

    2) Remove the Gmail account from New Outlook, then add it again

    • In New Outlook, go to View > View settings.
    • Select Accounts > Your accounts.
    • Select Manage next to the Gmail account.
    • Select Remove.
    • Restart New Outlook.
    • Go back to Accounts > Your accounts > Add account.
    • Enter your Gmail address and continue.
    • When Google asks for permission, select Allow.

    3) Remove old Microsoft access from your Google account, then reconnect

    • Go to your Google account page in a browser.
    • Open Security.
    • Go to Your connections to third-party apps & services.
    • Find Microsoft apps & services.
    • Remove its access.
    • Restart New Outlook and add the Gmail account again.

    4) Check Gmail IMAP access and Gmail folder visibility

IMAP must be enabled in Gmail before connecting the account, and Outlook also needs Gmail folders such as Inbox, Sent Mail, Trash, and All Mail to be set to Show in IMAP.

    • Open Gmail in a browser.
    • Go to Settings > See all settings.
    • Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
    • Make sure IMAP is enabled, if the option is available.
    • Open the Labels tab.
    • Make sure important folders such as Inbox, Sent Mail, Trash, and All Mail are set to Show in IMAP.

Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!
