Good day,

Thank you for reaching out.

In New Outlook for Windows (Microsoft 365 for Business), deleted emails from an Inbox subfolder can usually be recovered from either the Deleted Items folder or the Recover items deleted from this folder option.

Please try the following steps:

1/ Check the Deleted Items folder

  • Open New Outlook for Windows.
  • In the left navigation pane, select Deleted Items.
  • Look for the missing email(s). You can use the search box if needed.
  • Right-click the email and select Move.
  • Choose the original Inbox subfolder, or move the email back to the Inbox first.

If an entire folder or subfolder was deleted, expand Deleted Items and look for the folder name. If found, you can right-click the folder and select Move, or drag it back to its original location. This may restore the folder along with any subfolders and messages it contained.

2/ Recover items that are no longer in Deleted Items

If the email or folder is not available in Deleted Items, please try the following:

  • Open the Deleted Items folder.
  • Select Recover items deleted from this folder at the top of the window.
  • Locate the deleted email(s) and select Restore.

If the messages or folder cannot be found there, please contact your IT administrator as soon as possible. Recovery may depend on your organization's retention policies, and administrators may be able to recover deleted messages if the deleted item retention period has not expired.
