The problem went away on its own today, without any upgrade. Was it Microsoft's fault in the end?
What error for?
Today I got this error and I don't know what it's for and I want to know how to fix it if it keeps popping up again in the event viewer?

Hi jamie younkin,
Thank you for providing the Event Viewer details.
Based on the information you've shared, this appears to be related to a SCEP (Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol) certificate enrollment attempt that is receiving an HTTP 429 "Too Many Requests" response from the Microsoft AIK certificate enrollment service. The error code 0x801901ad corresponds to that server response rather than indicating corruption of Windows system files.
Because this is a certificate enrollment process contacting an external Microsoft service, running DISM and SFC would not typically resolve this type of event. At this time, there is no indication from the error itself that Windows is damaged or that your system is at risk.
To better understand whether any action is needed, could you let us know:
- Which Windows 11 version and build you are running (Press Windows key + R and type "winver")?
- Is this error occurring repeatedly or have you only seen it once or twice?
- Have you noticed any issues with Windows Update, Device Security, TPM, BitLocker or device encryption?
In the meantime, please make sure your system is fully up to date, including any optional driver and firmware updates available through Windows Update. If the event appears only occasionally and your device is otherwise working normally, it may be reasonable to simply monitor it and see whether it continues to occur after future Windows updates.
Please let me know the results and I'll be happy to take a closer look.
