Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Dear @ff Wong,
The error you are seeing specifically Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.TenantAccessBlockedException indicates that Microsoft's backend has strictly locked down exchange access for the entire tenant, usually due to a severe billing delinquency status (like a subscription entering the "Deprovisioned" or "Suspended" state after missing payments).
Even though you settled the overdue payment 24 hours ago, the backend synchronization that lifts a hard tenant-level block can take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours to fully propagate across all Microsoft Exchange infrastructure.
Because you are the Global Admin and cannot access your admin-linked email to handle standard verification, here is the immediate protocol I recommend getting your tenant unblocked:
Step 1: Bypass the Block via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
Since this is an Exchange-specific block affecting mailbox data storage access, your Admin Center access might still be operational.
- Go directly to Microsoft 365 admin center
- Navigate to Billing > Your products.
- Verify that the subscription status has officially changed from Suspended/Deprovisioned too Active. If it still shows suspended despite the payment, the payment gateway hasn't cleared the block internally.
When a tenant-level access block remains active after payment, it requires a manual sync override from Microsoft’s internal commerce team. As you cannot receive email updates, you must call them directly:
- Locate the phone number for your region via the official Contact Microsoft customer support | Microsoft Support directory.
- When calling, state clearly: "I am the Global Admin. My tenant is experiencing a
TenantAccessBlockedExceptionfollowing a resolved billing issue. I need to open a severity case with the Data Protection and Billing teams to manually lift the infrastructure lock." - Or you can raise ticket directly via Admin center. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.
If you urgently need to check if emails are bouncing or incoming, and you can still access the Admin Center:
- Create a temporary, cloud-only user account with a default domain.
- Assign a temporary Global Admin role to it.
- Sometimes, using the
.onmicrosoft.comrouting bypasses localized caching issues on your primary custom domain while the backend processes the restoration.
