I receive the below message:

AADSTS500200: User account '[Moderator note: personal info removed].com' is a personal Microsoft account. Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported for this application unless explicitly invited to an organization. Try signing out and signing back in with an organizational account.

How to resolve, knowing that the e-mail is @yourcompanyname, and not a gmail or hotmail account?

This could explain why you are receiving the error when attempting to access a service or resource that requires an account from a Microsoft 365 tenant.

In addition, I recommend verifying whether this email address is registered as a Microsoft personal account. You can check this by attempting to sign in here: Outlook Log In | Microsoft 365

After entering the email address, please pay attention to the URL that appears during the sign in process. If you notice terms such as "live" or "consumer" in the URL, it typically indicates that the account is recognized as a personal Microsoft account rather than a Microsoft 365 work or school account.

Thanks Vergil for your response. Actually the URL is showing 'live'. I get the below message:

"You need to create an Outlook.com email address to continue. We'll add it to your account as an alias."

To give you background, this e-mail account is created on google workspace and the Microsoft account is created on MS Teams. MS Teams shows the account as personal although the domain is not @outlook or @live. I'm confused!

What should be the correct action to have proper access to MS Teams?

With your update, here is how I understand the situation:

When you try to sign in to Microsoft Teams using your Google Workspace email address, Microsoft does not recognize that account as an identity that exists within the Microsoft ecosystem or a Microsoft 365 organization. Because of this, you are prompted to create a free Microsoft account using the same email address.

Since a Google Workspace account does not automatically represent a Microsoft work or school account, the email address can also be used to register a Microsoft personal account.

As a result, you now have two separate identities that use the same email address:

Your Google Workspace account, which is managed by Google and continues to provide your email and other Google Workspace services.

Your Microsoft personal account, which is managed by Microsoft and provides access to eligible Microsoft consumer services, including Microsoft Teams Free.

These accounts remain separate. Creating the Microsoft account does not transfer your mailbox to Microsoft or convert your Google Workspace account into a Microsoft work or school account.

You can continue using the Microsoft personal account with Microsoft Teams Free.

For managed business or organizational use, the organization would generally need an appropriate Teams business subscription and Microsoft work or school identities provisioned in a Microsoft Entra organization.

My company is considering switching from google workspace to Microsoft 365. I shall have the same e-mail alias. Would this be possible? Will I be able to avoid all this conflict by having my e-mail registered as Microsoft business account?

If you plan to use this alias for a business or work account in the future, I would recommend adding an @outlook.com alias to your personal Microsoft account, setting it as the primary alias, and then removing the alias that is currently associated with your Google Workspace account.

This approach should help ensure that no Microsoft identity remains associated with that username. As a result, it can reduce the likelihood of any identity conflicts after you create an account with the same username in your work environment.
