A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Hi, Chantal
Since printing works in Excel and reinstalling Microsoft 365 did not help, the issue is likely caused by Word being unable to communicate correctly with the macOS printing system, rather than a damaged Office installation.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners. Under Default printer, select the actual printer instead of Last Printer Used, then reopen Word and test File > Print. Setting a specific default printer has restored the dialog in similar cases.
If that does not help, reset the macOS printing system. In Printers & Scanners, Control-click the printer list or the empty area, then select Reset Printing System. Afterward, add the printer again using Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax. Please note that this removes all currently added printers. This solution has resolved the same Word-only issue, including cases where reinstalling Word did not help.
Finally, create a new blank Word document and try printing it. If the dialog opens there, the original document may be damaged.
Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
