I have been owning this laptop for 5 years, I never used Microsoft Edge, I was using an other browser (FireFox). While I was cleaning my storage I realised Microsoft Edge was taking way too much space so I wanted to uninstall. BUT NO! Microsoft won't let me uninstall it! Not even an uninstaller works! I just wanted to install other apps, please tell me how :(

    Hi Zero,

If your main goal is to free up storage space, it may be worth checking how much of the reported size comes from cached browsing data rather than the Edge application itself. Microsoft Edge is integrated with Windows and some apps rely on its underlying components, so removing it is generally not the most effective way to recover disk space.

    You can try the following:

    1. Open Settings > System > Storage and select Temporary files.
    2. Remove unnecessary temporary files and old downloads.
    3. Check your Downloads, Videos, and other personal folders for large files you no longer need.
    4. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps and sort by Size to identify larger applications that may be using more storage.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. If you can share how much space Edge is reported as using, the community may be able to determine whether the size is expected or if additional cleanup might be beneficial.

    Hi,

You can uninstall Microsoft Edge if you're a customer from the European Economic Area (EEA). For users from other countries, there is no straightforward way to uninstall Edge. However, there is an unofficial and unsupported method that allows you to uninstall Edge by modifying the IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json file. It can be done manually or using a third-party app, such as Wintoys.

    Important:

Microsoft Edge is deeply integrated with other apps through the WebView2 control. If one or more apps break after uninstalling Edge, you can reinstall it. If, after uninstalling Edge, you want to reinstall it in the future, you can do so by downloading the Edge installer from the following link:
