A desktop publishing application from Microsoft that focuses on page layout and graphic design.
Hello @Stephen Pittelman
Publisher was available as a one-time purchase (perpetual license) in older versions such as Publisher 2021. However, Microsoft is retiring Publisher, and it is no longer included in newer Office releases like Office 2024.
If you're looking to buy Publisher today, I would be cautious. Older perpetual versions may still be available from some retailers, but Microsoft is moving away from the product and support ends in October 2026. After that, the software may continue to run, but it will no longer receive updates or support.
My advice would be:
- If you only need access to a few existing .PUB files, try to keep a working copy of Publisher and export important files to PDF.
- If you're starting new projects, I would recommend moving to an alternative such as Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Designer, Canva, or Affinity Publisher rather than investing in Publisher now.
In short, I wouldn't recommend purchasing Publisher today because its future is uncertain, it will no longer receive updates or support, and it may not be worth the investment at this point.
I hope you will give yourself time to prepare for it and try to start using a new application soon to make sure your work will not be affected.
For your reference:
