Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Dear @Tyrin Sabb-Wilson,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
Based on your description, you want to add your own device to Microsoft Authenticator so you can sign in to your school account without relying on another person for approval.
If you can still sign in to your school account, you can add Microsoft Authenticator on your own device and register it as an authentication method through your account's security settings. Microsoft supports adding a work or school account to the Authenticator app by scanning a QR code during the setup process.
However, if approval requests are currently sent only to your mother's device and you cannot access any other verification method, you may be unable to add a new Authenticator device yourself. In that case, please contact your school's IT administrator and ask them to reset your MFA/security information so you can register your own phone with Microsoft Authenticator. You can also refer to this Microsoft support article for more information: Manage authentication methods - Microsoft Entra ID | Microsoft Learn.
As a forum moderator, I do not have administrative access to change these settings. Only your IT team has the ability to adjust or reset your MFA configuration.
I hope information above meet your expectations, please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.
