Does one Authenticator app work for multiple schools?

Hi,

I use the Authenticator act for the college I currently teach in. This Fall I am teaching courses at a second college. Do I need to download the app for both schools or can I simply use the current app at any school that uses the Authenticator?

Thanks for your help!

Dear Joseph,

Good day, and thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum. You can use the same Microsoft Authenticator app for both colleges, no second installation is needed. Microsoft Authenticator supports multiple accounts, including work and school accounts from different organizations, so you can simply add your new college account to the app you already have. Once added, both accounts will appear in your Authenticator app as separate entries, each with its own verification codes and approval requests. You will be able to tell them apart by the account name and organization listed under each one.

A small tip: if both accounts have similar display names, it is worth checking the email address shown under each entry when approving a sign-in, just to make sure you are approving the right one. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need anything else.
