Missing Past Emails

Hi,

I'm trying to find missing emails from 2024 and 2025. I'm using Outlook web as an individual. I looked in deleted, archived, and recovered emails and still cannot find them. Can you help me locate them? Also, I used to get emails about my limit being reached, but that stopped. I thought the emails were using mt one drive now, so that's why I'm not getting them anymore. Could this have something to do with it?

    Hi Olivia Pollard

    Please reply with:

    • Are the missing emails absent from Outlook.com web search results?
    • Is the mailbox or Microsoft cloud storage full or over quota?
    • Do you see any rules, Sweep settings, or forwarding entries?
    • Were the missing emails from specific senders, or are all 2024/2025 emails missing?

    Please try the steps below:

    1) Search from Outlook.com on the web, not only folders

Sign in to Outlook.com in a browser and search for a known sender, subject, or keyword from one of the missing messages. Make sure the search scope is not limited to only one folder.

    2) Check all possible locations

    Check these areas in Outlook.com:

    • Inbox
    • Junk Email
    • Deleted Items
    • Archive
    • Sent Items
    • Other
    • Any custom folders

If you find an email in Junk Email, mark it as Not junk.

    3) Use the Recover Deleted Items option again

In Outlook.com, open Deleted Items, then select Recover items deleted from this folder if the option is available. See: Recover and restore deleted items in Outlook | Microsoft Support

    4) Check rules, Sweep, and forwarding

    In Outlook.com, go to:

    • Settings > Mail > Rules
    • Sweep
    • Settings > Mail > Forwarding

Remove or disable anything that could move, delete, archive, or forward messages automatically.

    5) Check storage

utlook.com has mailbox storage, and Microsoft cloud storage may also affect Outlook.com attachments, OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 content. If storage is over quota, you may not be able to send or receive messages.

    6) Check account security

Go to Microsoft account security, review recent activity, and confirm that the recovery email, phone number, and sign-in methods are yours. If anything looks unfamiliar, change the password and secure the account.

    7) Contact Outlook.com support if the messages are not found

If the missing messages are not found in web search, Deleted Items, Recover Deleted Items, Archive, Junk Email, or any folder, this needs Outlook.com support review.

In Outlook.com, select Help, search for missing emails, then choose Still need help? > Yes if shown.
