Hi,

I want to insert a section break, but there is no option.

When I go to Insert - only page break appears. When I go to Layout - the only break options are Page and Column. See attachments. I'm using Word 365.

Can someone help?

I think by "Microsoft 365" you're referring to Word for the web, running in a browser. It does not have the ability to add section breaks. You'll have to use a desktop edition in Windows or macOS to do that.

    Hi Vanessa

In the Word desktop app, section breaks should normally be available under Layout > Breaks and you should see options such as Next Page, Continuous, Even Page, and Odd Page.

Use section breaks to change the layout or formatting in one section of your Word document | Micros

Insert a section break | Microsoft Support

If your Breaks menu only shows Page and Column, a few things would be helpful to check:

    • Are you using the desktop version of Word or Word on the web? Word on the web supports page breaks but does not currently support inserting section breaks.
    • Could you share a screenshot of File > Account showing the Word Version and Product Information (please remove any personal information)?
    • Have you customized the ribbon recently? If so, try File > Options > Customize Ribbon > Reset all customizations and then check the Layout tab again.

I look forward to your response.
