When trying to install 'Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) Standard 40th Anniversary Edition' from the microsoft store, after getting the prompt to install...Screenshot 2026-07-30 150836

I get a Vuege error telling me that installation failed. I get a button to retry, but that just loads for a minute before repeating the error

Upon restarting the microsoft store, when trying to install the game, I get a popup telling me that gaming components are being installed, before hanging on that screen

If I reset the microsoft store in Settings>System>System Components>Microsoft store, The process resets back to the retry loop.

I get a similarly confusing error telling me that Multiple installations have failed if I try through the Xbox app. The microsoft store will also not let me update the Xbox app

    Hi Sooparch,

Based on the behavior you described, the issue may be related to the Gaming Services components that Microsoft Store and Xbox app rely on for installing games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator. The fact that the Store cannot update the Xbox app and repeatedly attempts to install gaming components suggests that one of these components may not be registered correctly.

    Please try the following:

    1. Open Windows Terminal (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin).
    2. Remove the existing Gaming Services package: get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    3. Run: start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
    4. Reinstall Gaming Services from the Microsoft Store.
    5. Restart your PC and try installing Microsoft Flight Simulator again.

If the issue continues, check whether there are any pending Windows Updates and confirm that both Gaming Services and the Xbox app are fully updated before retrying the installation.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
