Using Outlook for Android for personal email and calendar management
Please note that this is a user-to-user community. As moderators, we have limited access to internal details, but we will do our best to guide you to the right support resources.
Please reply with only these details:
- Does the same location suggestion issue happen in Outlook.com on the web?
- Is the account Outlook.com, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, or another provider?
- Does typing a full address manually still save correctly in the calendar event?
- What Outlook mobile app version is installed on the Samsung phone?
Please try the steps below:
1) Check whether the issue is account-side or app-side
Sign in to https://outlook.live.com/mail/ from a browser and create a test calendar event.
- If location suggestions also do not appear there, the issue is likely not limited to the Outlook for Android app.
- If suggestions work on the web but not on the Samsung phone, the issue is more likely related to the mobile app or device settings.
2) Update Outlook mobile and related Android components
On the Samsung phone, open the Google Play Store and check for updates for:
- Microsoft Outlook
- Android System WebView
- Google Maps, if installed
After updating, restart the phone and test creating a calendar event again.
3) Check app permissions on Android
On the Samsung phone, go to: Settings > Apps > Outlook > Permissions
If Location permission is available, allow it. Also check Settings > Location and make sure device location is turned on.
4) Remove and add the account again in Outlook mobile
In Outlook mobile:
- Open Settings.
- Select the affected account.
- Remove the account.
- Restart the Outlook app.
- Add the account again.
This can help refresh the account connection if the calendar data or suggestions are not working correctly in the mobile app.
5) Reinstall Outlook mobile if the issue remains only on the phone
If Outlook.com on the web works but the Android app still does not show location suggestions:
- Uninstall Outlook mobile.
- Restart the phone.
- Reinstall Outlook from the Google Play Store.
- Add the account again and test the calendar location field.
This works as a clean reset for the Outlook mobile app if the issue is only happening on the phone.
6) Contact Outlook mobile support from inside the app
If the issue continues after testing the web version, updating the app, checking permissions, and re-adding the account, please contact Outlook mobile support from inside the app.
In Outlook mobile:
- Tap your profile photo.
- Tap the ? icon.
- Select Contact Outlook Mobile Support.
Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!
