my computer was reset and now windows won't reactive

Susan, for home users, there is no such product called Windows 365. It is either Windows, or Microsoft 365, these are two separate different products.

Windows, I assume you are on Windows 11, is the operating system installed on your computer.

Microsoft 365, particularly Msft 365 personal or family, is the subscription that allows you to install office apps, such as Words, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

After a Windows reset, Microsoft 365 is not automatically included in Windows, and will require its own install.

So I need your help, to tell me, do you need to activate Windows, or do you need to install and activate Microsoft 365, that way I can help you properly with the relevant instruction.

Hi Susan Wilcox,

I understand you're unable to reactivate Windows after resetting your PC.

Before we proceed further, could you please confirm whether you are seeing a message such as "Activate Windows" in "Settings" > "System" > "Activation", or are you trying to reinstall/activate Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, etc.)?

In the meantime, if this is a Windows Home activation issue, please try the built-in Activation Troubleshooter:

Open "Settings" > "System" > "Activation".
If Windows shows as Not active, select "Troubleshoot".
Ensure the PC is connected to the internet and signed in with the same Microsoft account that was previously used on this device.
Let me know any activation error code that appears (for example, 0xC004F213 or 0xC004F211). Microsoft recommends using the Activation Troubleshooter for reactivation issues after a reset or hardware-related license detection problems
