Confirm Save As Prompt Immediately closes

Recently, whenever I try to overwrite a file as Save As such as a text file or a screenshot, when I hit the Save button, the Confirm Save As window that would pop up right after that to confirm that I'm overwriting a file would immediately close out and not save. It's almost like there's a key that's stuck that's constantly hitting the "No" option. Any ideas what could be causing this? I've system restored to try and go b ack to before my computer updated but still runs into the problem.

Hello, just got this issue on a few clients and found out the culprit after shutting down some processes. It came down to wpscloudsvr.exe which is a component of WPS Office. On the Task Manager I believe it comes as "WPS Office service program for service such as login and cloud storage".

Close it and all other WPS processes and the issue will go away.

Now you can either rename the EXE to anything else to make sure the process doesn't start up with the software or uninstall WPS Office. The EXE should be under C:\Users[Username]\AppData\Local\Kingsoft\WPS Office\12.1.0.28032\office6\wpscloudsvr.exe

Hope this helps!

Regards

    Welcome Aaron Ploeg,

I understand how frustrating it can be when you mentioned that the "Confirm Save As" dialog closes immediately, and it feels as though something is automatically selecting "No", I'd like to narrow down whether this is being caused by Windows itself or by an input device.

    A couple of quick questions:

    • Does the same behavior occur if you use the On-Screen Keyboard (Win + Ctrl + O) and temporarily disconnect any external keyboard, mouse, controller, or macro device?
    • Does this happen in multiple apps (for example Notepad, Paint, Snipping Tool, WordPad), or only in a specific application?

In the meantime, please try these quick checks:

Option 1: Check for a stuck key

    • Press the Tab, Esc, Enter, and arrow keys several times
    • If you are using an external keyboard, disconnect it and test again

Option 2: Test with the On-Screen Keyboard

    • Press Win + Ctrl + O
    • Try overwriting a file using only the On-Screen Keyboard
    • If the dialog stays open, the issue is likely related to a physical keyboard or input device

Option 3: Perform a clean boot test

    • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter
    • On the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services and select Disable all
    • On the Startup tab, open Task Manager and disable all startup items
    • Restart and test again

Option 4: Check for keyboard/mouse driver issues

    • Open Device Manager
    • Expand Keyboards and Mice and other pointing devices
    • Right-click the device and choose Uninstall device, then restart Windows. Windows will reinstall the drivers automatically

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
