    Spam Calendar Events

This is a know issue. Microsoft is aware of the problem but there is currently no fix. Unless you are in an IT Managed Environment there is nothing you can do to stop them.

    Hi Stephanie Tuffin,

I understand that unwanted emails continue to arrive and related items are also appearing on your Outlook.com calendar.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot access your mailbox or make account-level changes.

The Q&A Assist answer provides the correct Outlook.com locations for managing blocked senders, events created from email, and unfamiliar subscribed calendars. Have you had a chance to try those steps, and did the calendar entries continue afterward?

I would also like to add that the Events from email setting applies to information Outlook detects in messages, such as travel reservations or package deliveries. It may not apply if the unwanted item is a meeting invitation sent by an unknown organizer.

To identify the correct cause, please open one of the unwanted calendar entries and confirm whether it:

    1. Shows an unknown person or address as the organizer.
    2. Appears as an event created from an email.
    3. Belongs to an unfamiliar calendar under My calendars or Other calendars.

Please do not include the sender’s complete email address or any other personal information in the public reply.

In the meantime, avoid selecting links or attachments in the messages. Report the related message as Phishing or Junk rather than replying to it. Reporting suspicious messages helps Outlook evaluate them, while blocking an address only moves later messages from that specific address to Junk. Filter junk email and spam in Outlook

I hope this helps clarify the information needed to identify how the unwanted calendar items are being added.

For Outlook.com and Outlook on the web, two separate issues can be involved:

    1. Junk email
      • Open Settings > Mail > Junk email.
      • Under Blocked senders and domains, add senders or domains that should always go to Junk.
      • Under Safe senders and domains, add trusted senders or domains so legitimate mail does not go to Junk.
      • Junk email is kept for 30 days before automatic deletion.
    2. Events being added to the calendar from email
      • Open Settings > Calendar > Events from email.
      • Change the setting to Don’t add events to my calendar from email.
      • In classic Outlook on the web, this is under Calendar settings > Automatic processing > Events from email.

If suspicious calendar items are already appearing:

    • Remove the item from Outlook.com on the web.
    • Check the calendar list for any unknown subscribed or shared calendar and remove or unsubscribe from it.
    • If the item is tied to a related message, report that message as junk or phishing instead of interacting with links in the event.

If specific senders keep bypassing Junk, add them to Blocked senders and domains. If legitimate messages are being misclassified, add them to Safe senders and domains.
