Teams fails to start automatically when updating to versions higher than 25255.703.3978.7153. Many online solutions, such as reinstalling and cleaning registry history, have failed to resolve the issue.

    Hi @Collins Heidi

If Microsoft Teams stops starting automatically after updating to a version newer than 25255.703.3978.7153, you can try the following workaround:

    • Open Microsoft Teams > Settings > System.
    • Make sure Auto-start Teams is enabled.
    • Untick Open application in background. User's image
    • Open Task Manager > Startup apps.
    • Find Microsoft Teams (msteams_autostarter.exe).
    • Right-click it and select Enable. User's image
    • Restart Windows and check whether Teams starts automatically.

If Teams still does not start automatically, you should also check whether msteams_autostarter.exe is being blocked by security, antivirus, or application-control software, since this component is responsible for starting the new Teams client at sign-in.

    I hope this helps.
