    Hi Wilson Sage

I recommend reviewing AI's recommendations first, as it covers the most common causes of an unexpectedly empty inbox, including checking the Junk Email, Deleted Items, Archive folders, filters, rules, and available recovery options.

In addition, since you're using Outlook for Android with a Microsoft 365 Education account, I'd like to determine whether the issue is with the mobile app or the mailbox itself.

Here are some steps you can try to check:

    • Sign in to Outlook on the web with the same school account and verify whether your emails are visible there.
      • If the emails appear in Outlook on the web, the mailbox is intact and the issue is likely related to the Outlook mobile app.
      • If the mailbox is also empty on the web, you may need to contact your school's Microsoft 365 administrator to investigate mailbox activity, retention policies, or account-related changes.
    • In Outlook for Android, pull down on the Inbox to force a sync, then verify that the account status shows no sync errors.
    • Go to Settings > Accounts, select the affected account, and remove/re-add it to rebuild the local mailbox cache.

If you recently changed your password or your school enabled new security requirements, re-authentication may be needed for the account to sync properly.

Additionally, could you share some information:

    • Are the emails missing only in Outlook for Android, or also in Outlook on the web?
    • Is this a Microsoft 365 Education mailbox provided by your school?
    • Did the inbox become empty suddenly, or after changing devices, passwords, or account settings?

I hope this information helps and look forward to your response.

If the Outlook.com inbox is suddenly empty, the messages are usually hidden, moved, or recoverable. Check these in order:

    1. Junk Email Messages can be marked as junk by another mail app. Open the Junk Email folder. If the missing mail is there, select it and choose Report > Not junk. In Outlook for Android, open Junk Email, select the message, then choose Move to Inbox.
    2. Deleted Items Open Deleted Items and look for the missing messages. If found, select them and choose Restore. In Outlook for Android, open Deleted Items, select the message, then choose Move to folder > Inbox.
    3. Recover deleted items If the messages are not in Deleted Items, on a computer open Deleted Items and select Recover items deleted from this folder. If the messages appear there, select them and choose Restore.
    4. Archive Open the Archive folder. If the messages are there, select a message and choose Move to > Inbox. In Outlook for Android, open Archive, select the message, then choose Move to folder > Inbox.
    5. Filter and Focused Inbox Above the message list, select Filter and set it to All. If Focused Inbox is enabled, also check the Other tab. If the message is there, move it back to Focused inbox.
    6. Rules On a computer, open Rules settings and check whether an Inbox rule or Sweep rule is moving messages out of the inbox. Edit or delete any incorrect rule.
    7. Recent sign-in activity If the inbox changed unexpectedly, review the account’s recent activity to see whether there was unusual access.
    8. If the inbox still looks empty If self-help does not solve it, use Outlook.com support from the Help menu, or use the Outlook.com Community.

    Important limits:

    • Messages removed from Deleted Items are recoverable for 30 days.
    • Messages in Junk Email are automatically removed after 30 days and are not recoverable.
    • Recovering items deleted from Deleted Items must be done on a computer, not in Outlook for Android or a mobile browser.
