    Hi Rachel Clarkson,

I understand how concerning it is when important archived correspondence can no longer be found.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot access your mailbox or restore items directly.

In Classic Outlook, “Archive” may refer either to an Archive folder or to a separate Outlook Data File. Please check the following:

    1. Sign in to your email provider’s website and look in the Archive folder. If the messages appear there, the data is still stored online and the issue is limited to Outlook on the computer.
    2. In Classic Outlook, select File > Open & Export > Open Outlook Data File, then look for and open any .pst archive file. Its folders will appear in the left navigation pane. See Open and find items in an Outlook Data File.
    3. If the items may have been removed, open Deleted Items, select Home > Recover Deleted Items From Server, and restore any available items. This option and item availability depend on the account type. See Recover and restore deleted items in Outlook.

Outlook’s Archive command moves email messages to an Archive folder; it does not create separate backup copies of their attachments. More information is available in Archive in Outlook for Windows.

If the items remain missing, please confirm the account type shown under File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Type, and whether the messages are visible in the provider’s webmail. This will determine the appropriate recovery path.
