Minecraft driver issues.

Question

When I log into the minecraft server I play on play.cryomc.co and i have the server textures on my game freezes and i get a driver faliure message, this is the only server that it happens on, ive been on other servers with many more textures and I was able to play fine. If you can help please reply.

Since this happens only with CryoMC’s resource pack, the likely cause is a corrupted cached copy of that pack, a mod/shader conflict, or a pack that does not match your Minecraft version, rather than a general graphics problem.

Besides the solutions provided by the Q&A Assist, here are some suggestions you can try: 

Close Minecraft. Press Windows key + R, enter %appdata%.minecraft, then open server-resource-packs. Delete everything inside that folder, but keep the folder itself. Minecraft will download a fresh copy when you reconnect. Recreating this cache has resolved similar server-pack crashes.

Start the regular Minecraft Launcher and test with an unmodified installation. Temporarily remove OptiFine, Fabric, Forge, shaders, and custom resource packs. If it works, restore them one at a time to identify the conflict.

Make sure you are joining with the exact Minecraft version recommended by CryoMC. A pack made for another version may fail while loading.

Temporarily turn off Discord Overlay, Xbox Game Bar, NVIDIA/AMD overlays, or recording software, then reconnect.

If it still freezes, send CryoMC support the newest file from %appdata%.minecraft\crash-reports or the latest.log file. Since only their pack triggers it, the server owner may need to correct or replace the pack.

This points to a graphics driver problem rather than malware, and the server resource pack is likely triggering it on that specific server.

Try this in order:

1. Update the graphics driver
   • Open Device Manager.
   • Expand Display adapters.
   • Right-click the graphics device and select Properties.
   • Open the Driver tab and select Update Driver.
   • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
   • If Windows does not find one, install the driver from the PC or graphics manufacturer.
2. Check whether Windows blocked a driver If Windows shows “A driver can’t load on this device”, Memory Integrity may be blocking the driver.
   • First, look for an updated compatible driver through Windows Update or from the driver manufacturer.
   • If no updated driver is available, Memory Integrity can be turned off in Windows Security > Device Security > Core isolation details > Memory Integrity.
   • Warning: turning off Memory Integrity reduces protection, and on a Secured-core PC it takes the device out of a Secured-core state. A restart is required.
3. Use Safe Mode to test whether the issue is driver-related
   • Go to Settings > Update and Security > Recovery > Advanced startup.
   • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
   • After restart, choose option 4, 5, or 6 for Safe Mode. This helps isolate whether the crash is caused by the graphics driver or another loaded component.
4. Check for graphics timeout failures A VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE happens when Windows detects the GPU is hung and tries to reset the display driver. This commonly happens during graphics-intensive activity. If a driver is named in the failure message, disable that driver or get an updated version from the manufacturer.
5. Make sure graphics software is current Verify graphics-related software such as DirectX and OpenGL is up to date, and make sure Minecraft is fully updated.
6. Run hardware checks if the problem continues
   • Run Windows Memory Diagnostics: in Control Panel search, enter Memory, then select Diagnose your computer’s memory problems.
   • After the test, open Event Viewer and check the System log for MemoryDiagnostics-Results.
   • If available, run the hardware diagnostics from the PC manufacturer.

Because this happens only when that server’s textures are enabled, the most likely path is:

• update the GPU driver first,
• then test the server again,
• and if Windows is blocking the driver, resolve that driver issue before disabling Memory Integrity.
